KUTZTOWN, PA - The St. Thomas Aquinas College men's tennis team won their program-record 12th match on Wednesday, besting PSAC for Kutztown by a 7-0 score.
Efficiency was key for the Spartans, as they won matches at second and third doubles, as well as fourth, fifth, and sixth singles dropping only one total game. Freshman Mitch Harrison '22 (Brisbane, Australia) picked up his first career singles victory, besting his opponent by a 6-1, 6-0 score while showing off a stellar volley game. Enej Hasicevic '20 (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) teamed with Paul Voigt '21 (Cologne, Germany) to win at second doubles 6-0 while the pair also went unblemished in singles play. Hascevic is now fourth all-time in career singles wins with 36, tied for second all-time with 41 doubles victories, and fourth in program history with 77 combined wins.
Gijs Offringa '22 (Hollandsche Rading, Netherlands) and Tim Fleerkamp '20 (Waalre, Netherlands) won at third and second singles, respectively, while Marcel Volz '22 (Iffezheim, Germany) outlasted his opponent 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) at first singles in the closest match of the day.
The Spartans, currently ranked 6th in the NCAA East Region, are back in action on Tuesday as they travel to take on NE10 opponent Stonehill College. First serve is set for 3:30 PM, rain or shine.
