Spartans Score Huge Road Victory at Daemen, 5-2

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men’s Tennis team picked up a huge road win on Monday, besting Daemen College 5-2 and securing a spot in the upcoming East Coast Conference tournament.

Taking the doubles point with wins at first and second positions, the Spartans would pick up wins at fifth, second, fourth, and third singles before dropping their match at first singles.  Graduate student Enej Hasicevic ’20 ’21 (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) picked up his 50th career doubles win, setting a new program record, and paired it with his 46th career singles victory.  Hasicevic’s combined 96 singles and doubles wins put him within reaching distance of becoming only the second player in program history to break 100 career wins.

Kas Roosch ’21 (s’Hertogenbosch, Netherlands) continued his strong play with a 6-2, 6-2 win at second singles, and Ivan Laiz ’24 (La Oratava, Spain) took the clincher at fourth singles with a 7-5, 6-1 triumph.  Alvaro Barranco ’21 (Lleida, Spain) would round out the scoring for the visitors with a 6-1, 6-4 win at third singles.

The Spartans remain in Buffalo, NY to take on Daemen again on Tuesday.
