Washington, D.C. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team got back on track, in dominant fashion Friday afternoon, shutting out the University of the District of Columbia 5-0.

STAC opened things up with a dominant performance in doubles play, taking three straight matchups to secure the team doubles point. The duo of Eduard Simo and Ludovico Truffelli cruised to a 6-2 victory at No. 1, followed by Odysseas Papaioannou and Valentin Baranyi taking a 6-2 win at the No. 2 position. Lennart Lehmann and Ivan Laiz closed things out with a 6-0 triumph.

Once the Spartans secured the doubles point, there was no turning back. St. Thomas Aquinas jumped right into singles play, taking all four completed singles matches from the Firebirds to secure a win on the day. Odysseas Papaioannou started the victory spree in the No. 5 slot, taking a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Ivan Laiz followed the trend taking a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the No. 6 slot to give the Spartans a commanding 3-0 lead roughly halfway through the afternoon. Ludovico Truffelli took a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 4 spot to clinch the overall team victory, opening the door for No. 3 Eduard Simo (Win: 6-2, 6-2) to keep the shutout victory intact. Due to time constraints the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches went unfinished, however both Maximilian Kendler and Lennart Lehmann each put up terrific efforts against their respective opponents.
