Williamsville, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team registered its second 7-0 shutout victory against Daemen University in as many days, on Thursday afternoon at the Village Glen Tennis Club.
STAC opened the day, sweeping all three matches in doubles play to secure the first team point. The duo of Odysseas Papaioannou and Maximilian Kendler cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 3, followed by Valentin Baranyi and Tony Khamassi taking a 6-2 win at the No. 2 position. Eduard Simo and Ludovico Truffelli wrapped up doubles with a 6-4 triumph at the No. 1 spot.
Once the Spartans secured their initial point, there was no turning back. St. Thomas Aquinas jumped right into singles play, taking all six matches from Daemen to secure a second straight win over the Wildcats. Maximilian Kendler picked up a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 1, followed by Lennart Lehmann's win, 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. Eduard Simo posted a 7-5, 6-2 triumph at No. 3, with Ludovico Truffelli taking the No. 4 match 6-1, 6-0. Ivan Laiz and Julius Upel posted 6-0, 6-0 shutout wins in the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively to help sweep all of the individual contests.
