Men's Tennis Suffers 4-3 Setback to Rockhurst

Orlando, Fla. – The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Tennis team continued its Florida Spring Break trip with a 4-3 setback to Rockhurst University on Tuesday afternoon.

STAC opened the contest, taking the doubles point on the strength of victories by No. 1 doubles by Eduard Simo and Ludovico Truffelli, 6-1, the No 2. pair of Odysseas Papaioannou and Tony Khamassi, 6-3 and then the No. 3 doubles team of Ivan Laiz and Julius Upel, 7-3.

In singles action, Rockhurst took the first two matchups, to take a commanding 3-0 advantage. STAC would battle to break the shutout, with two straight wins of their own, as Lennart Lehmann scored a 7-5, 7-6 victory at No. 3, before Odysseas Papaioannou scored a 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 triumph. However, despite the Spartans fight in all of their singles contests, Rockhurst picked up the match-clinching point via a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 win at the No. 6 position.
