STAC Men's Volleyball Drops Match At FDU

Hackensack, N.J. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball team kicked off its busy weekend on Friday evening, making the short drive to the Garden State to take on Fairleigh Dickinson University at the newly-rebranded Bogota Savings Bank Center (formerly Rothman Center). Despite a solid effort from the maroon and gold in a battle between NEC and ECC squads, the host Knights took a 3-0 sweep over the Spartans.

STAC slips to 0-5 on the year, while FDU improves to 5-1 on the season.

How it Happened

  • The Spartans recorded 21 total kills in three sets (10-6-5) with the Knights.
  • Nicholas Santos (OH/OPP) paced the Spartans offense with 8 kills in the match. He also registered a service ace, four digs and a block assist.
  • Thomas Santos (L), Joaquin La Jara (S) and Andre Cippiciani (OH/OPP) recorded a team-high six digs apiece on the evening.
  • Kyran Versteegen (S) also tallied 12 serve assists (4.0 assists/set), five kills, one service ace, four digs and a match-high four block assists for the maroon and gold.
  • James Feuchtgruber (MB) racked a kill, three service aces a dig and two block assists.
  • Gabriel Vieira (OH/OPP) picked up two kills, five digs and a block assist for the Spartans.
  • David Weiss (MB) added two kills, a dig and a block assist to the STAC totals.
