Spartans Sweep Season Series from Roberts Wesleyan with 3-1 Triumph

Rochester, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball team wrapped up its three-match regular season series with Roberts Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon by taking a 3-1 decision over the host Redhawks at the Voller Athletic Center in Western, New York.

STAC improves to 7-12 overall and 3-1 in ECC play, while Roberts Wesleyan falls to 6-13 and 1-3.

How it Happened

  • As a team, STAC recorded 54 kills compared to Roberts Wesleyan's 39. The Spartans also had a 7.5 blocks and 46 assists, while the Redhawks tallied 7 blocks and 35 assists.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas outhit Roberts Wesleyan by a .330 to .129 margin for the match.
  • Gabriel Vieira paced the Spartans offense with a match-high 21 kills on Saturday. He also registered seven digs and three block assists.
  • Joaquin La Jara tallied 39 serve assists (9.75 assists/set). La Jara also accumulated one kill, a service ace, seven digs and a block assist for the maroon and gold.
  • Kyran Versteegen recorded 16 kills and two service aces, along with six digs and two block assists.
  • Andre Cippiciani tallied six kills, two service aces, five digs and a solo block on the day.
  • David Weiss picked up six kills, a dig, a solo block and a block assist.
  • James Feuchtgruber accumulated four kills, six digs and four block assists.
