STAC Men's Volleyball Wins Third Straight with 3-0 Sweep of Dominican

Blauvelt, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball team continued its playoff push on Thursday afternoon, taking on East Coast Conference and crosstown rivals, Dominican University at the Hennessy Center. A complete performance by the Spartans resulted in a 3-0 blanking of the Chargers to keep the maroon and gold atop the conference standings.

STAC improves to 8-12 overall and 4-1 in ECC play, while Dominican slips to 10-11 and 2-2.

How it Happened

  • As a team, STAC recorded 38 kills compared to Dominican's 23. The Spartans also had a 7 blocks and 34 assists, while the Chargers tallied 1 block and 21 assists.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas outhit Dominican by a .277 to .046 margin for the match.
  • Kyran Versteegen paced the Spartans offense with a match-high 11 kills on Thursday. He also registered seven digs and two block assists.
  • Joaquin La Jara tallied 29 serve assists (9.67 assists/set). La Jara also accumulated one kill and four digs for the maroon and gold.
  • Gabriel Vieira recorded 10 kills, along with nine digs, a solo block and three block assists.
