North Andover, Mass. - Playing the third match of a five-game road trip, the St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Volleyball team suffered a 3-0 shutout defeat at the hands of Merrimack College on Friday evening at Hammel Court.

STAC slips to 11-9 overall on the year, while Merrimack improves to 12-6.

How it Happened

  • As a team, Merrimack recorded 37 kills compared to STAC's 39. The Warriors also had 4 blocks and 34 assists, while the Spartans tallied 2 blocks and 38 assists.
  • Merrimack College outhit St. Thomas Aquinas College by a .378 to .329 margin for the match.
  • Gabriel Vieira led the Spartans offense with a match-high 17 kills. He also had 11 digs and a block assist.
  • Marcus Franck tallied 30 set assists (10.0 assists/set). Franck also accumulated three kills, a service ace and two digs for the maroon and gold.
  • Jannis Freude registered seven kills, an assist, two service aces and five digs for the Spartans.
  • Kyran Versteegen picked up nine kills and four digs for STAC on Friday.
  • David Weiss recorded three kills, an assist, a solo block and a block assist on the evening.
  • Ivaylo Todorov accumulated four assists and six digs over three sets.
