Spartans Dilal, Landolina, Santora & Sullivan Named Softball Captains for 2019-20

St. Thomas Aquinas College Softball Head Coach Kristen Sullivan today announced Adrianna Dilal, Ashley Landolina, Morgan Santora and Taylor Sullivan as team captains for the 2019-20 season.

“We graduated eight seniors and added eight freshmen this season so the need for good leadership is very important,” said Sullivan. “The team voted for the captains and these four young women will hold their teammates to high standards of accountability. I am very excited to work with them this season.”

The Spartans rewrote the program record book last year by recording a 25-21 record and advancing to the second round of the ECC playoffs.

Dilal, a senior from Rochester, N.Y., excelled last season in her first year at STAC. She finished with a 13-10 record and led the team in earned run average (2.03) and strikeouts (98) to earn Second-Team All-ECC honors. “Adrianna will be one of the top pitchers in the conference and will lead with her on-field play and passion for the game of softball,” said Sullivan.

Landolina, a senior from Tolland, Conn, has won All-ECC Second-Team recognition in each of the last two seasons for her outstanding play at shortstop and at the plate. She led the team last year in batting average (.3576), home runs (seven) and RBI (33). “Ashley is a great role model for the younger players,” said Sullivan. “She works extremely hard in practice and understands what it takes to be a quality player on the collegiate level.”

Santora, a junior from Saddle Brook, N.J., will vie for playing time at catcher after two years as a reserve player. “Morgan has a tremendous work ethic and plays with great determination,” said Sullivan. “She inspires her coaches and teammate with her positive energy and upbeat attitude.”

Sullivan, a senior from Suffern, N.Y., won the starting first base job last year and anchored the team’s defense with her reliable glove work. “Taylor has improved every season as a college player and helped solidify our infield last year,” said Sullivan. “She is a very good communicator on and off the field.”
