St. Thomas Aquinas College Sprint Football Cornerback Markell Carter has been named the Collegiate Sprint Football League's Rookie of the Week, following the Spartans 20-10 victory over Chestnut Hill College in their season finale on Saturday at the Torne Valley Sports Complex.

Carter (Fr./Jamestown, N.Y.) helped lead the Spartan defense core in keeping the visiting Griffins to only 10 points on the afternoon, with 3 tackles (2 solo, 1 assist), a fumble recovery, an interception and pass break up. 

STAC closed its 2021 season at 2-5, 0-4 in the CSFL North Division and will return a large portion of their roster for the 2022 season.
