Sprint Football Falls at Mansfield, 55-5

Mansfield, Pa. – The St. Thomas Aquinas College Sprint Football team fell to Mansfield University, 55-5, on Saturday afternoon at Karl Van Norman Field.

Mansfield improved its record to 3-1 and 2-1 in the CSFL North, while STAC drops to 1-3 and 0-1 within the North Division.

STAC HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES

  • Elionexis Lopez led the way with three receptions for 36 yards, with his longest catch being a 15 yarder.
  • Myles Gordon garnered 7 rushing attempts for 25 total yards.
  • Esmond Oldums and Trey Moore registered 4.5 tackles apiece (4 solo, 1 assist) in the game.
  • Starting quarterback Jayden Bennermon completed 3 of 16 passes, for 29 yards. He also had 6 rush attempts for 21 total yards. QB Miles Anderson also saw time in the contest, going 7-of-14 for 52 yards with 2 interceptions.
  • Bo Maroney went 1-for-1 on field goal attempts, booting a 43-yarder through the uprights.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter

  • Mansfield opened the scoring with a Logan Shull 24-yard field goal to make it 3-0.
  • A Matt Robert fumble recovery in the endzone with 1:53 to go in the stanza, put the hosts up 10-0.
  • Just before the end of the quarter, a Terrance Quaker 13-yard run gave Mansfield a 17-0 advantage.

Second Quarter

  • Another Logan Shull field goal, this time from 31 yards, extended the Mounties lead to 20-0.
  • The first of three Cashid Raymond Rushing touchdowns came on a 29-yard scamper, making it 27-0.
  • STAC finally broke the shutout when Bo Maroney connected on a 43-yard field goal try to make it 27-3.
  • Raymond once again put points on the board for Mansfield via a 77-yard TD run to give the hosts a commanding 34-3 advantage.

Third Quarter

  • Cashid Raymond wrapped up his scoring for the day, with another run to the house, this time for 65-yards, as Mansfield went up 41-3.
  • A Dion Mather sack in the endzone gave the Spartans a safety and two points to make it 41-5.

Fourth Quarter

  • Dion Mather's 14-yard pass to Jed Reese for a touchdown, put the Mounties up by 43, at 48-5.
  • A Miles Anderson pass attempt was intercepted by Kade Showers and returned 34 yards for the touchdown, making it 55-5.
