St. Thomas Aquinas College's Christina Maretzo was named the East Coast Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Monday, after the Spartans competed in the Fastrack National Invitational this past Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
On the track, Maretzo broke St. Thomas Aquinas' women's mile record this past weekend by running 5:09.14, good for a second place finish. The sophomore from Tuxedo, NY also ran the 1200 meter leg for the DMR team that ran a time of 12:33.56 to take first place. Both the Mile and DMR times were the best in the conference this season.
The Spartans next focus their attention on the East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, which take place on Saturday, February 16 at STAC's home away from home, the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
