Rickssen Opont Wraps Up Stellar Spartan Track & Field Career at NCAA Outdoor National Championships

St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Track & Field thrower, Rickssen Opont participated in the Shot Put on the final day of competition at NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships on Thursday in Kingsville, Texas.

Opont (RJr./Nyack, NY) closed out his stellar career as a Spartan by throwing 16.47 Meters (54'0.5"), which placed 20th in a field of tough and talented Division II competitors. Rickssen wraps up his tenure in Sparkill, as one of the most honored and respected Shot Put athletes in the program's history, having received multiple All-Conference and All-Region selections during his time at the college.

However, the work continues for Opont, as next up will be graduate school and one final year of track & field. Rickssen will be taking his talents to the University of South Alabama in Mobile this fall, as he pursues his Master's Degree.
