Spartan Track & Field Competes At NYC Gotham Cup

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field team competed in the Gotham Cup on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.

On the day, the Spartans had great performances by junior Rebecca MacLeod and sophomore Christina Maretzo. MacLeod took 1st Place in the 1000m Run with a time of 3:04.54, Maretzo took 2nd in a time of 3:04.62. Another notable performance was Abagaile Kimbrell hitting a new personal best in the 3000m run in a time of 11:01.14, good for a 10th place finish in a stacked field of Division I, II and III runners. 

Meantime, on the men's side, sophomore Matthew Tina hit a new personal best in the 5000m run with a time of 16:13.42 and a 15th overall finish in the event with over 35 competitors. 

The Spartans head to "Beantown", Boston on Friday, January 25th for the Boston University Terrier Classic. The 2-day event takes place at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
