The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track and Field team kicked-off its 2020 outdoor campaign in sunny Miramar, Florida at the St. Thomas University & Nova Southeastern University Bobcat/Shark Relays.
On the day, the men's team took a first place overall finish, picking up 113 total event points, while the women's squad finished in third place, taking 105 total event points.
Headlining the performances for the men were: Daniel Agostinho-Vides' first place finish in the 5000 Meter Run in a time of 16:27.39, the first place finish of the 4x100 Meter Relay Team (Dante Brown, Quazier Dailey, Lavonno Mitchell, Elizah Gordon) in a time of 41.79 and Dante Brown's first place finish in the Long Jump, leaping 6.68 Meters/21'11". On the women's side of the ledger, Christina Maretzo took a top finish in the 800 Meter Run, finishing in 2:25.39 and the 4x400 Meter Relay Team of Kayla Cobelli, Kalesha Darisme, Shannon Thompson and Christina Maretzo picked up a victory, crossing the finish line at 4:17.25.
The competition was the first of two meets for the Spartans in Florida during their Spring Break tour of the Sunshine State. The team will return to action at the St. Thomas University Bobcat Invitational on Saturday, March 14th. Events begin at 9pm at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar, FL.
