Men's Track & Field Takes Third, Women Take Fifth at ECC Indoor Championships

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track & Field program squared off with nine other conference members in the annual East Coast Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island on Saturday evening. On the day, the men's squad took a third place finish, while the women's team finished fifth.

The first place finishers in the men's events include Dante Brown in the 60 Meter Dash (6.91), Quazier Dailey in the 200 Meter Dash (21.84), Josh Mallard in the 400 Meter Dash (50.07), Mitch Philistin, Lugduni DesRosiers, Makendy Midouin & Josh Mallard in the 4x400 Meter Relay (3:22.61), DeAndre Smith in the High Jump (2.11 meters/6'11") and Dante Brown in the Long Jump (7.29 meters/23'11").

On the women's side, first place finishers included; Christina Maretzo in the 1000 Meter Run (3:03.37) and Laura Herbes in the Pole Vault (3.20 meters/10'6").

Next up for St. Thomas Aquinas is an opportunity for athletes who are on the bubble for an NCAA Division II Indoor National Championship bid to take part in the Boston University Last Chance Meet on Friday, February 28th. The event will take place at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
