St. Thomas Aquinas College's DeAndre Smith and Gabriella Mott were named the East Coast Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete and Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week respectively on Tuesday, after the Spartans participated in the Ramapo College Opener at the 168th Street Armory in New York City last Friday.

Smith, the sophomore from Brentwood, NY, took first place in the high jump at the Ramapo College Opener with a jump of 2.01m (6’7”). His mark was an ECC season-best.

Mott, the sophomore from Lake Ronkonkoma, NY blew by her opponents in the 5000m run to pick up a first place finish at the Ramapo College Open in a time of 18:59.71. Her time was also an ECC season-best in the event by over 12 seconds.
