Ten Spartans Earn USTFCCCA Indoor Track & Field All-Region Honors

On Monday, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced their 2020 Indoor Track & Field All-Region teams, and ten members of the St. Thomas Aquinas College squad were selected for the prestigious honor in recognition of their outstanding winter seasons.

Junior Dante Brown (Nyack, N.Y.) led the way for the Spartans, receiving 3 All-East Region honors in the 60, 200 and Long Jump. Junior Quazier Dailey (Easton, Pa.) took home 2 All-Region awards for his work in the 60 and 200. Senior Aidan Russell (Pearl River, N.Y.) receives All-Region recognition for his exceptional season in the 5000. Sophomore DeAndre Smith (Brentwood, N.Y.) picked up All-Region accolades for his performance in the High Jump. In addition, the 4x400 Relay team of Lugduni DesRosiers, Josh Mallard, Makendy Midouin and Mich Philistin were also recognized for their outstanding season with All-Region honors.

On the women's side of the ledger, juniors Abagaile Kimbrell (Monroe, N.Y.) and Christina Maretzo (Tuxedo, N.Y.) received All-East Region honors in the 3000 and the Mile respectively.

To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be one of the top-5 individuals in their events in their respective region. In addition, each member of a region’s top-3 relay team was selected for the distinction.

A total of 1,614 athletes from 156 different institutions earned All-Region honors nationwide with 812 honorees coming from the men’s side and an additional 802 from women’s teams.
