The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track and Field team opened calendar year 2020 at the Wagner College Invitational on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
On the day, Dante Brown continued his impressive start to the 2019-2020 campaign with a first place finish in Long Jump, with a jump of 22'0.75" (6.72 meters) and a second place finish in the 200 meter dash in a time of 22.13. DeAndre Smith also shined for the Spartans in the High Jump, recording a jump of 6'4.75" (1.95 meters), which gave Smith a first place finish of his own.
Meanwhile, on the women's side, Christina Maretzo would buzz past her competition in the 800 meter dash to take first place in a time of 2:24.45, and then later pick up a third place finish in the Mile run, recording a time of 5:16.38. Abagaile Kimbrell opened the new year, finishing second in the 3000 meter run in a time of 10:34.99.
STAC will next host their annual Spartan Invitational meet on Friday, January 10th at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Events are scheduled to begin at 1pm.
