Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez Finishes 11th At NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Garners All-American Honors

Pueblo, Colo. - St. Thomas Aquinas College Men's Track & Field star, Emmanuel Mena-Jimenez competed in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships on Friday at the Neta & Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl on the campus of Colorado State University–Pueblo.

In his inaugural NCAA Division II National Championship meet, Mena-Jimenez, a sophomore from West Haverstraw, New York, placed 11th in the Discus event with a throw of 51.36 meters or 168 feet, 6 inches.

In addition to his day of competition, Manny made news outside of the cage, as he was named a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Second Team All-American selection.

Student-athletes earn First-Team USTFCCCA All-American honors by virtue of finishing among the top-eight in their respective events – including as a member of a relay team – at this week's outdoor championship meet. Second-team selections are given to those athletes who finish in spots Nos. 9-12 in individual events. Ninth and tenth-place relay teams also earn the distinction.

Mena-Jimenez will now begin preparations for his junior year, and the opportunity to participate in both indoor and outdoor national championship events during the 2023-2024 academic year.
