New York, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Track and Field team kicked-off its 2022-23 indoor campaign at The College of New Jersey Winter Opener within the friendly confines of the 168th Street Armory in New York City.
The Spartans competed against athletes from several schools such as Felician University, Alliance University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Ramapo College and Princeton University.
Headlining the men's performances were Andrew Drescher's 1-Mile Run, where he came in at a time of 4:24.67, which was good for fifth place. James Hughes placed fifth in the 5000 meter run in a time of 16:31.01, while Emmanuel Mena Jimenez took a fourth place finish in the Shot Put, with a toss of 14.34m/47'0.75".
On the women's side of the ledger, Samantha Frisbee took home a fourth place finish in the 1000 meter run, with a time of 3:35.37, while Skylar Moreno (19:43.36) placed second and Gabriella Mott (20:16.60) finished fourth in the 5000 meter run.
The competition was the first of two meets for the Spartans during the month of December. The team will return to action at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout on Friday, December 9. Events begin at 2pm at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY.
