Kellyann Averill Picks Up ECC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week Honors

St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball player Kellyann Averill was named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, following the Spartans 2-0 week on the court.

Averill averaged 10.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in wins against the University of the District of Columbia (76-50) on Wednesday evening and Southern Connecticut State University (67-59) on Saturday afternoon. The redshirt sophomore guard/forward from Saugerties, NY shot 58.8 percent (10-for-17) from the field, and picked up 3 steals, while also helping STAC hold their opponents below 40.0 percent shooting and 60 points per game. 

St. Thomas Aquinas resume the ECC portion of their schedule, as STAC hosts NYIT on Wednesday, January 9th at 5:30pm. Following the tilt with the Bears, the Spartans will head to LIU Post on Saturday, January 12th for a 1:30pm match-up with the Pioneers.
