St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball player Zaria Thomas was named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, following the Spartans 2-0 week on the hardwood, with victories over both NYIT and LIU Post.
Thomas averaged 16.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 4.5 steals per game in wins against the New York Institute of Technology (60-47) on Wednesday evening and LIU Post (85-65) on Saturday afternoon. The sophomore guard from Elmira, NY shot 42.8 percent (9-for-21) from the field, 40.0 percent (6-for-15) from three and 88.8 percent (8-for-9) from the free throw line.
St. Thomas Aquinas takes their 21-3 (12-1 ECC) record on the road, as the Spartans take on the University of the District of Columbia in our Nation's Capital on Thursday, February 14. Tip-off is scheduled for 5pm.
