St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Basketball player Ruth Adams was named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, following the Spartans 2-0 weekend on the court.
Adams averaged 14.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in wins against Roberts Wesleyan College (73-58) on Friday evening and Daemen College (67-62) on Sunday afternoon. The redshirt senior guard from San Diego, CA shot 62.0 percent (13-for-21) from the field, 50.0 percent (1-for-2) from three and 50.0 percent (1-for-2) from the foul line, and picked up 3 assists, 4 steals and a blocked shot, while also helping STAC hold their opponents below 37.0 percent shooting and 60 points per game.
St. Thomas Aquinas (9-1) will finish the 2019 calendar year on the road, traveling to Southern Connecticut State University for a big regional battle on Wednesday, December 18 before returning to ECC play at Mercy College on Saturday, December 21. The 2020 portion of the slate starts at Aquinas Hall as the University of the Sciences visits for another big regional test on Friday, January 3.
