Adams, Sadler, Thomas, Lusk, Among ECC Post-Season Honorees

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's basketball team was well-represented in post-season awards, released by the East Coast Conference on Friday night. Read more from the ECC Here.

After taking All-Conference Second Team honors one year ago, Ruth Adams emerged as a dominant force in the second half of the 2019-2020 campaign, earning not only ECC Player of the Year honors (which is accompanied by a First Team slot), but the redshirt senior was also recognized as ECC's Defensive Player of the Year. Ruth currently stands second in the conference in scoring with 14.7 ppg, while standing fourth in steals with 2.1 per game. Adams started just one of the first eight games this season, often used as the first player off the bench, but she earned the starting role from there on, getting the nod in STAC's last 19 games to date.

Joining Adams on the First Team from the Regular-Season Co-Champions is forward Missy Sadler, who has also been a force throughout her senior season. Missy is currently 2nd on the team and 7th in the ECC in scoring at 12.9 ppg, and her toughness and tenacity has played a major role in her team's success this year.

One of the most prolific three-point threats in the conference, junior Zaria Thomas was recognized with Third Team All-Conference honors. Zaria had her best season in '19-20 with 11.7 ppg, with much of her damage being done from beyond the arc. Her 37.2 percentage from downtown is currently 6th in the ECC, while her 2.5 treys per game tying her for second in that category.

For over a decade, the one constant in the successful women's hoops program at STAC has been Coach Kim Lusk, who was named the ECC Coach of the Year for the second straight season and third overall. With Saturday's semi-final showdown, Coach Lusk has now guided the Spartans to the post-season in 11 of her 12 years at the helm, and 7th trip to the semi-finals. Should STAC advance, they will be in their third ECC final, and are in search of their third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
