The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's basketball team completed a weekend sweep with an 85-65 victory over Dominican College at Aquinas Hall. The Spartans open the season with a 2-0 record, while Dominican slips to 1-1 with the loss.

Coming off Friday's dominant 87-51 win over AIC, the Spartans faced a much tougher challenge in the first quarter until Zaria Thomas hit a pair of late threes, turning a 16-15 advantage into a 22-16 lead through 10 minutes. STAC open a lead of as many as eight points but still held a narrow 26-23 advantage midway through the second.

Missy Sadler started the ball running with a lay-up and Sarah Scerbak followed up with a trey, touching off a sudden 17-0 run over less than a three-minute span, opening a 43-23 gap en route to a 49-30 halftime cushion. STAC extended the margin to 24 in the third quarter, but the Chargers rallied in the fourth, as an 8-2 spurt closed the gap to 70-55 with seven minutes left.

Any hopes were short-lived as Thomas quickly followed with a pair of jumpers - one from beyond the arc - in a 22 second span and the home squad never looked back. Scerbak went 7-for-8 from the field, including 4-of-5 from three point range, to post a game-high 21 points, with Thomas chipping in 20. Korina Guerra and Samantha McClutchy paced Dominican with 11 points each.

The Spartans return to their home hardwood on Wednesday, November 13, hosting Bloomfield College in a 5:30 pm start at Aquinas Hall. They will hit the road to take on Pace University on November 16, then go to Georgian Court on November 20, before returning to Aquinas Hall to meet Caldwell on November 23.
