The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Bridgeport University, 15-8. Anne Buttafuococ led the Lady Spartans with 5 goals, while Margaret Sharp added 4 goals. Kellie had 3 goals for the Lady Spartans and Stephanie Nelson recorded 16 saves.
Bridgeport took control of the game early outscoring the Lady Spartans 4-1 in the opening ten minutes. However, STAC scored the next seven goals in the half, four of which came from Buttafuoco to take a comfortable 8-4 lead into the break.
Johannah Mitchell scored the first goal in the second half and the Lady Spartans went on to outscored the Purple Knights 7-4 in that half. Alannah McCallister and Samantha Lowney each added a goal for the Lady Spartans. Emily Catalano, Alexia Costa and Lindsey Kehoe each scored two goals for Bridgeport.
The Lady Spartans are now 7-5 overall marking their winningest season in the programs history. STAC is 2-3 in ECC play and will play at Queens on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
