Spartans Fall to Dowling in ECC Semi Final

The St. Thomas Aquinas lacrosse team lost to Dowling College, 12-6 in the semi final playoff game of the East Coast Conference.  Senior Kellie Kucinski scored two goals for the Spartans and freshmen Caroline Finnen had two goals and one assist.  

The Golden Lions got off to an early lead sxcoring the first three gaols of the game.  Kucinski scored her first goal at the 13:03 mark bringing the Spartans within two, 3-1.  Both teams alternated exchanging three more goals each for the remainder of the half.  Finnen added a goal of an assist from Courtney McGrath.  McGrath scored on a free position shot and Kucinski scored the final goal of the half from an assist from Sabrina Prestano.  

The Spartans were outscored 6-2 in the second half as Samantha Lowney scored off an assist from Finnen.  Finnen added STAC's final goal of the game off an assist from McGrath but the Spartans could not close the gap, falling 12-6.  Jackie Anderson had five goals and one assist for Dowling.

The Spartans conclude their season with an overall record of 10-6 and an ECC record of 6-2.  STAC will graduate their top four points leaders; Kellie Kucinski, Samantha Lowney, Courtney McGrath and Genevieve Stickney.  All four have started and played in every game this season for the Spartans. Kucinski, Lowney and Stickney all leave STAC having scored over 100 career goals while guiding the Spartans to the post season for back to back seasons.
