STAC Blasts Nyack, 18-6; Lowney Notches 100th Goal

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Nyack College, 18-6 on Thursday afternoon. Senior Samantha Lowney scored 4 goals, including her 100th career goal and added 1 assist. Courtney McGrath and Kellie Kucinski each had 4 gaols and McGrath added 3 assists.

Ruth Pluviose got the Spartans on the scoreboard early with a goal at the 27:13 mark.  Nyack responded with back to back goals from Karis and Karly Walborn.  The Spartans then took control with seven straight goals starting with Lowney at the 16:19 mark.  The senior notched her 100th career goal and her second for the game just three minutes later, putting STAC ahead 5-2.  Lowney was not finished yet as she added another goal in the first half guiding STAC to an 11-4 lead at the break.  

McGrath and Kucinski continued their strong offensive play with two goals apiece to start the second half.  Lonwey also had an early second half goal lifting STAC to a 16-4 lead.  Katherine Borriello and Alyson Brennan scored the final two goals for the Spartans marking their first goals of the season. Genevieve Stickney had 3 assists and 1 goal for STAC and freshmen Caroline Finnen added a goal.  

Kaitlyn Lonergan and Melissa Gabay each recorded one save in goal for STAC.  The Spartans will host Roberts Wesleyan on Friday at 11:00 am.
