Spartans Pick Up ECC Win Over Queens, 7-3

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team hosted Queens College today, beating their conference opponent, 7-3. Caroline Finnen had three goals and one assist while Sabrina Prestano had two goals.

The Spartans got on the scoreboard first with a goal from Prestano off an assist from Samantha Rifice.  The Knights scored two goals of their own to end the half up 2-1.  

Finnen came on strong in the second half with her first goaloff an assist from Ruth Pluviose.  Less than a minute later, Finnen assisted a goal by Katherine Borriello to give STAC a 3-2 lead.  Finnen added two more goals in a 5-0 run for the Spartans.  Courtney Dumain had an assist and a goal in that stretch to give STAC a 6-2 edge over the visitors.  

Prestano's goal with just seconds remaining in the game was icing on the cake as the Spartans picked up their first conference win of the season and third straight victory.  Kaitlyn Lonergan had 1 save for the Spartans in the win.  

The Spartans will return to action on Sunday when they host, East Stroudsburg.  Sunday's game time is slated for 12:00 p.m.
