Spartans Top Redhawks, 14-4

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team beat Roberts Wesleyan, 14-4.  Caroline Finnen scored four goals and added two assists while Alyson Brennan scored three goals and had two assists.

Finnen and Brennan got the Spartans off to a good start scoring their first two goals and Finnen added an assist.  Roberts scored to come within one at the 22:55 mark with a goal from Cassley Jackowski.  STAC scored the next seven goals of the first half with Finnen adding three more goals in that stretch.  Marist Parr, Ruth Pluviose and Brennan each added a goal giving the Spartans a 9-1 lead. 

Loren Dunn added a goal for the Redhawks and Katherine Borriello added one for the Spartans who held a 10-2 advantage at the half.  Brennan scored her third goal in the early minutes of the second haf. Freshmen Courtney Dumain added a goal for the Spartans as Parr and Pluviose chipped in one more each to give STAC it's largest lead, 14-2.  

Ali Fox scored two late goals for the Redhawks to finalize the score at 14-4.  Kaitlyn Lonergan had nine saves in the win for the Spartans.  The Spartans held a 12-8 edge on the draw controls with Pluviose winning five of them.  

STAC is now 3-0 in ECC play, sitting at the top of the conference and 8-4 overall.  The Spartans will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Molloy College for a noon game.  Molloy is a game behind the Spartans at 2-1 in conference play.
