Spartans Have Set Back Against Purple Knights; Falling 9-8

The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team lost to the University of Bridgeport, 9-8 on Saturday afternoon.  Jennifer Farrell scored 3 goals and had 1 assist.  

The Purple Knights got off to a strong start scoring the first three goals of the game.  Caroline Finnen put the Spartans on the scoreboard off an assist fro Farrell.  Farrell followed with a goal of her own just a few minutes later.  Danielle Heady tied the game at 3-3 at the 9:46 mark.  

The Purple Knight's Joanna Muniz scored her second goal of the game to give the visitors back the lead but the Spartans finished the half out strong with a goal from Erin Sleurs, Farrell and Finnen to take a 6-4 lead into the break.  

The Spartans had 16 shots to the Purple Knights 11 in the first half.  Bridgeport came out as the aggressor in the second half with 11 shots to the Spartans 5.  The Purple Knights connected on 5 of their 11 shots outscoring the Spartans 5-2 in the seocond half to secure a 9-8 win.  

Laura Delorenzo had 7 saves in the loss for the Spartans.  STAC will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to LIU Post for a 4 p.m. game.
