The St. Thomas Aquinas women's lacrosse team lost to Philadelphia University, 8-4 on Wednesday afternoon. Caroline Finnen scored two goals for the Spartans. Laura Delorenzo had 4 saves for the Spartans.
Samantha Ryder put the Rams on the scoreboard almost halfway through the first half at the 15:41 mark. The Spartans responded with Finnen's first goal of the game just three minutes later. The hosts stayed in controll the remainder of the half adding three more goals to take a 4-1 lead into the break and holding an 8-3 advantage on shots.
The Spartan offense was more aggressive in the second half with 14 shots to the Rams 7, but the guest were only able to capitalize on 3 of their shots. Alyson Brennan and Jennifer Farrell each added a second half goal. Finnen's second goal brought the Spartans within three (7-4) with 11 minutes to go.
Philadelphia University's Isabella DiGnazio added a late goal to put the Rams ahead four and earn the win. DiGnazio finished with two goals for the hosts. Victoria Raimondi picked up her first win in goal with 8 saves.
The Spartans will return to action on Saturday when they host Roberts Wesleyan for a 1:00 pm game.
