Spartans Pick up 17-5 Win over Caldwell

The St. Thomas Aquinas Women's Lacrosse team won 17-5 against Caldwell University on Thursday afternoon. Danielle Cajou, Caroline Finnen and Caitlin Verber each scored four goals for the Spartans. Melissa Gabay picked up her second win in goal recording two saves in thirty minutes of action.

Cajou scored the first goal of the game as the Spartans open a 4-0 run with four different goal scorers.  Gabrielle Di Fusco, Finnen and Kaitlyn Gutenberger all contributed.  Caldwell scored back to back goals that were sandwiched by six more goals from the Saprtans.  STAC held a 10-4 lead at halftime with a 21-9 shots advantage.  

Gutenberger had a team high five assists for STAC while DiFusco and Emily Glennon each added one. Verber scored the final goal for the Spartans with a little over a minute remaining in the game to give them the 17-5 lead.  STAC won 15-9 on draw controls and finished with 37 shots to the Cougars 15. Arden Kassaleh scored three goals for the visitors.  

Laura Delorenzo and Katherine Feigenbaum also saw minutes in goal both recording two saves.  The Spartans will return to action on Saturday when they play at Roberts Wesleyan for a noon game.
