Spartan Women's Lacrosse Opens 2019 Season This Sunday

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team will open their 2019 season against the Franklin Pierce University Ravens at Spartan Field this coming Sunday, February 17th, with the opening draw scheduled for 1pm.

St. Thomas Aquinas has been predicted to finish 7th in the East Coast Conference standings, as per the preseason coaches poll released on February 1st, after going 6-10 overall and 3-5 in the ECC last season.

The Spartans graduated five players from the 2018 squad, including; Elizabeth Cazzari, Melissa Gabay, Claudja Dorcely, Caroline Finnen and Ryan Doherty, but are far from bereft of talent, as returning players Kayla Caprara, Danielle Cajou, Abby Fitzgerald, Samantha Rifice, Jennifer Farrell, Arielle Rodriguez, Meaghan Burke, Kaitlyn Gutenberger, Gabrielle Di Fusco, Emily Glennon, Alyssa DeSimone, Katherine Feigenbaum and Laura Delorenzo will look to carry on the winning culture that has made Spartan Lacrosse so successful over the last number of years. New players joining the squad this season are; Madeline Buechli (RSo., Defense, Piermont, NY) and Leanna Iobbi (Fr., Midfield, Sparkill, NY).

First year Head Coach Bonnie Conklin-Sullivan and Assistant Coach Victoria Di Fusco are ready help guide this group of extremely talented young women through a long season, against tough opponents, with the ultimate goal of returning to the ECC playoffs and a chance at a first-ever NCAA Division II National Tournament appearance.

St. Thomas Aquinas College will host Franklin Pierce (2/17), Holy Family (2/23), Dominican (3/6), Molloy (3/16), Bridgeport (4/6), Roberts Wesleyan (4/8) and NYIT (4/27) at Spartan Field. STAC will play road contests at Stonehill (2/26), at Caldwell (3/1), at Saint Michael's (3/8), at Nyack (3/20), at LIU Post (3/23), at UDC (3/30), at Ramapo (4/9), at Queens (4/13) and at Mercy (4/20).
