The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team put up a ten-goal first half en route to a 16-5 victory over Holy Family University at Spartan Field on Saturday afternoon.

Kaitlyn Gutenberger and Leanna Iobbi talled 4 goals in the contest, while Danielle Cajou and Gabrielle Di Fusco scored three goals each. Kayla Caprara and Arielle Rodriguez also chipped in a goal apiece, and Katherine Feigenbaum was stellar in the cage for the Spartans, picking up her first victory of the season.

STAC put up an early four spot on the visiting Tigers, as Leanna Iobbi (2 goals), Arielle Rodriguez and Danielle Cajou opened the scoring before Casey Brown was able to get Holy Family on the scoreboard, making it 4-1 Spartans. Kaitlyn Gutenberger and Iobbi then tallied respectively to push the Spartan lead to five at 6-1. Yasmin Machlof was able to get one back for the visitors, but Cajou and Gabrielle Di Fusco were able to net goals of their own to extend the lead to 8-2 for the maroon and gold. Dana Trevito closed out the scoring for Holy Family, however St. Thomas Aquinas was able to find the back of the net two more times, as Gutenberger and Cajou made it 10-3 at the halftime buzzer.

The second half saw the Spartans open with four consecutive goals once again, as Kayla Caprara, Gutenberger, Di Fusco and Iobbi busted the game wide open for a 14-3 STAC advantage. The Tigers tried to chip away at the massive lead when Casey Brown scored, making it a 10-goal home team advantage at 14-4. However, the Spartans would quickly silence any attempts at a rally with goals by Di Fusco and Gutenberger, pushing the score to 16-4 St. Thomas Aquinas. Vanessa Pagliei concluded the scoring for both teams, making it 16-5, but the Spartans ran out the clock and rolled to victory.

Spartan goalie Katherine Feigenbaum (W, 1-0) stopped 14 of 19 shots faced. Meanwhile, Holy Family netminder Jenna Heath (L, 0-1) picked up 7 saves.

STAC held a slim 30-26 shots advantage for the game.

St. Thomas Aquinas (1-1) will next travel to Stonehill College for 3pm match-up with the Skyhawks on Tuesday, February 26th at W.B. Mason Stadium.
