Spartans Roll to Fourth Straight Victory, 23-12 over Caldwell

The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team won their fourth straight contest of the season, a 23-12 victory over Caldwell University on Tuesday afternoon at Spartan Field.

Jennifer Farrell lit the lamp seven times for the Spartans, while assisting on three of her teammate's goals and Arielle Rodriguez also scored seven goals and picked up an assist in the contest. Leanna Iobbi tallied five goals on the afternoon and Kaitlyn Gutenberger picked up four more goals, pushing her season total to a team-leading 21. Laura Delorenzo got the start in the cage for STAC and made 10 saves on the day to run her record to 4-0 on the year. Samantha Bates came on in relief in the final four minutes of game and did not face a shot.

Caldwell's scoring was led by Arden Kassaleh with three goals, followed up by Emily Lasko, Kelsey Maxwell, Samantha Murphy and Jenna Steelman with two goals each. Jules Wesler (1 goal) also contributed to the scoring for the Cougars. Goalie Ashley Barrett (L, 0-4) got nod in the cage and stopped 8 of 31 shots faced. 

Shots for the game were 40 (31 on goal) for the Spartans and 31 (22 on goal) for the visiting Cougars.

St. Thomas Aquinas (4-0) next heads to Florida for the team's 2-game Spring Break trip. STAC will take on East Region foes Saint Anselm College (March 7th/1pm) and Stonehill College (March 9th/10am) at Balmoral Resort in Haines City, FL.
