Farrell's Nine-Point Performance Propels STAC to a 16-6 Decision over Holy Family

Jennifer Farrell posted five goals and four assists, while Danielle Cajou and Leanna Iobbi each recorded three goals and an assist, as St. Thomas Aquinas College rolled to a 16-6 victory over Holy Family University on Friday afternoon at Spartan Field, to open the home portion of the Spartans' schedule.

Micaela Ross scored two goals, and Arielle Rodriguez, Casey Hannon and Olivia Cerbo all tallied a goal apiece, while Laura Delorenzo stopped 12 of 18 shots faced to pick up the win and run her record to 2-1 on the season.

The Tigers' scoring was led by Mackenzie Santucci with three goals, Tatceyana Pulley with two goals and Lynn Hardy with a goal. Goalie Caitlyn Musick (L, 0-1) got the nod in net for Holy Family and stopped 14 shots faced.

STAC would get the scoring started as both Leanna Iobbi, then Jennifer Farrell would find the back of the Holy Family net to make it 2-0 just under seven minutes into the contest. The Tigers would answer with the next three, as Mackenzie Santucci (2) and Tatceyana Pulley would both score to put Holy Family in the lead at 3-2. The Spartans would counter with the three goals of their own, when Olivia Cerbo, Arielle Rodriguez and Farrell all lit the lamp to put St. Thomas Aquinas back ahead at 5-3. Pulley would narrow the STAC lead to one, as she would score with just over six minutes to go in the opening stanza to make it a 5-4 Spartan lead. However, the Spartan offense would continue to stay hot, as Iobbi and Danielle Cajou (2) would expand the STAC lead to 8-4 at the half.

Second half action saw Jennifer Farrell push the Spartans' lead to 9-4, as she would get the hat trick. Mackenzie Santucci would score a hat trick goal of her own just moments later, to get one back for Holy Family and make it a 9-5 contest. The high-powered STAC offense would strike once again, for three more goals, as Farrell would pick up goal number four on the day and Micaela Ross (2) widened the lead to 12-5 for the maroon and gold. Lynn Hardy would close out the Tigers' scoring, to cut the lead in half at 12-6. STAC would score four more times in the final 14 minutes of the game, on goals from Cajou, Iobbi, Farrell and Casey Hannon to take the 16-6 outcome and pick up their second consecutive win.

Shots for the contest were 43 (30 on goal) for STAC and 24 (18 on goal) for the Holy Family.

The Spartans will return action on Sunday, March 21 against Roberts Wesleyan College. Opening draw is set for 11am at Spartan Field.
