Spartans Earn Conference Win with 16-4 Victory Over Bridgeport

The St. Thomas Aquinas Women's Lacrosse team beat the University of Bridgeport, 16-4 on Saturday evening. Leanna Iobbi led the offensive attack for the Spartans with seven goals and one assist.

The Spartans got off to a strong start opening the game 6-0, with four different goal scorers; Arielle Rodriguez, Micaela Ross, Iobbi and Danielle Cajou.  Iobbi scored three first half goals, while Jennifer Farrell added one as the Spartans held a 8-2 lead at the break.  

STAC continued its strong attack with Iobbi adding four more goals in the second half and McKenzie Schlechtweg and Samantha Cerrato each contributing one goal. Farrell finished the game with a team-high three assists, while Cajou led the Spartans winning six draw controls.  Addison Plum had two goals for the Purple Knights who are now 1-2.  

Laura Delorenzo recorded five saves while earning her third win of the season in goal.  

STAC (3-2) will return to action on Friday, April 16, when they host Bridgeport for a noon game at Spartan Field.
