Danielle Cajou Reaches 100-Point Milestone as STAC Women's Lacrosse Bests Bridgeport, 18-14

Bridgeport, Conn. - Danielle Cajou eclipsed the 100 career points mark with five goals and three assists, as the St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team opened its ECC schedule, defeating the University of Bridgeport, 18-14 on Saturday afternoon at Knights Field.

STAC improves to 3-4 and 1-0 in conference play, while Bridgeport falls to 5-3 and 0-2 in the ECC.

How it Happened

  • St. Thomas Aquinas opened the scoring with three straight first quarter goals from Alexa Paternoster, Micaela Ross and Danielle Cajou to take a 3-0 lead.
  • The host Purple Knights got on the board with a Megan Kreitler tally to cut the deficit to 3-1.
  • Danielle Cajou picked up her second of the game to make it 4-1.
  • Bridgeport ended the opening frame with three goals of their own via Tereza Kreuzova, Andrea Basilicato and Megan Kreitler to even the game at 4-4.
  • STAC struck for six of the eight goals in the second stanza. Micaela Ross, Danielle Cajou (3) and Leanna Iobbi (2) all found the back of the net for the visitors, while Megan Kreitler and Shyla Murray tallied for Bridgeport to make it 10-6 in favor of the maroon and gold at halftime.
  • Following the break, Megan Kreitler (3), Andrea Basilicato (2) and Addison Plume helped the Purple Knights keep the score close. Meanwhile Alexa Paternoster, Jennifer Stevens, Micaela Ross and Leanna Iobbi kept the STAC offense chugging along, with each picking up goals to keep the Spartans in front by the score of 14-12 through 45 minutes of action.
  • Megan Kreitler scored her seventh of the contest to get the fourth quarter underway for Bridgeport, cutting the margin to just one at 14-13.
  • STAC answered back with three consecutive goals by Alexa Paternoster and Micaela Ross to get their advantage back to four at 17-13.
  • The final Purple Knights goal came via Andrea Basilicato with less than five minutes left to play, making it 17-14.
  • Olivia Cerbo would add an insurance goal of her own in the final two minutes of regulation, giving STAC the 18-14 advantage at the final buzzer.
