Women's Lacrosse Doubled Up By Molloy, 22-11

Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team suffered a 22-11 defeat at the hands of Molloy College on Saturday afternoon at John A. Darcy Field. STAC drops to 4-8 overall and 2-3 in ECC play, while Molloy improves to 9-7 and 4-2 in conference play.

How it Happened

  • Molloy opened the scoring in the first quarter with two early goals.
  • Leanna Iobbi cut the deficit in half with a goal to make it 2-1.
  • The Lions tallied the next five goals to go ahead 7-1.
  • Micaela Ross struck for a goal, making it 7-2.
  • Four of the next five goals came via the hosts, with Danielle Cajou scoring in between, to make it 11-3 through 15 minutes of action.
  • Molloy outscored STAC 5-1 in the second quarter, as Leanna Iobbi picked up the lone goal for the Spartans. The Lions took a 16-4 advantage into the halftime break.
  • Following the intermission Molloy and St. Thomas Aquinas traded early third quarter goals, with Micaela Ross picking up her second of match to make it 17-5.
  • The Lions scored four additional times, with Arielle Rodriguez getting her first goal of the season for STAC, making it 21-6 through three quarters of play.
  • St. Thomas Aquinas attempted a rally in the final quarter, putting up five of the six goals in the frame. Micaela Ross, Danielle Cajou (3) and Leanna Iobbi all scored to make it 22-11. However, time would not be on the side of the Spartans and the contest would end with Molloy winning by the same margin.
