STAC Women's Lacrosse Falls at Roberts Wesleyan, 20-7

Rochester, N.Y. - The St. Thomas Aquinas College Women's Lacrosse team saw its two-game win streak ended on Sunday afternoon in a 20-7 loss to Roberts Wesleyan College.

STAC slips to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the ECC, while Roberts Wesleyan improves to 6-3 and 2-0 in conference play.

How it Happened

  • Roberts Wesleyan opened the first quarter scoring with five straight goals, as Lindsey Brinkel (2), Madison Bell, Emma Blumenstock and Ellen O'Neil all found the back of the net.
  • Olivia Cerbo broke the shutout in the last 90 seconds of the quarter, to cut the Spartan deficit to four at 5-1.
  • STAC continued to find some offensive magic to begin the second stanza, with Danielle Cajou scoring back-to-back goals to make it 5-3.
  • Another five goal outburst by the host Redhawks increased their lead to 10-3 at halftime. Alexis Grant, Sophia Podszebka (2), Madison Bell and Emma Bluemenstock all tallied goals for Roberts Wesleyan.
  • Following the break, the Spartans and Redhawks traded the first four goals of the third quarter, with Emma Blumenstock and Rhiannon Burto scoring for Roberts and Leanna Iobbi picking up a pair of goals for STAC, making it 12-5.
  • Roberts Wesleyan closed the quarter, scoring three more times, as Ellen O'Neil, Sophia Podszebka and Alexis Grant all found the scoresheet once again, giving the Redhawks a commanding 15-5 advantage through 45 minutes of action.
  • Jennifer Stevens got one back for STAC to open the fourth quarter, before Roberts Wesleyan netted five straight via Ellen O'Neil, Madison Bell (2) and Alexis Grant (2). Danielle Cajou closed the scoring on the afternoon, with her third of the game for the Spartans, but the match was never in doubt, as the hosts from Western New York took the 20-7 victory.
