The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team fell to a 3-1 defeat in an East Coast Conference contest at Daemen College. The Lady Spartans dropped to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in ECC action, with Daemen improving to 3-3-1, 1-1.
While Daemen had the advanatage in shots, neither team was able to hit the net at the tension built through 60 scoreless minutes. The hosts broke the seal at the 61:42 mark when Jamie Boyar put one over STAC netminder Courtney Dumain. At 71:26, Kalyn Compeau made the score 2-0, but the Lady Spartans were not done just yet.
Maya LaFleur scored her first of the season at 76:14 to give STAC some life, but Compeau's insurance tally with under seven minutes to play sealed the Wildcats' 3-1 win. Dumain made eight saves on the after noon as her squad was outshot on the day by an 18-5 margin.
The Lady Spartans will play three of their next four games at home, starting Wednesday with a non-conference tilt with Dominican College, with kickoff time set for 3:00 pm at Spartan Field.
