The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team held a decisive advantage in shots but fell to a 2-1 non-conference decision at Bloomfield College. The Lady Spartans now stand at 1-4-1 on the season, with Bloomfield's record improved to 3-4 overall.

Each of STAC's first six games this season has been decided by one goal or less, with the trend continuing on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Spartans struck first early, when Kelsey Ardizzone's shot from just outside the box caught the top of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at 4:52. That lead held until the 31:03 mark, when Nicole McWilliams was on the receiving end of an Ashley Ramirez free kick, with the finish tying the score. 

Just less than five minutes later, Ramirez sent a chip over the head of Lady Spartans goalkeeper Courtney Dumain at 35:43 to put the Bears on top. STAC held a decisive 8-2 lead in shots at halftime and 15-6 for the game, but Bloomfield netminder Jessica Larson made six of her 10 saves for the game in the second half as St. Thomas Aquinas pressed unsuccessfully for the equalizer.

The Lady Spartans will play their next two straight at home, both East Coast Conference confrontations. On Tuesday, September 26, they will host Queens College for a 1:30 kickoff (followed by the men's game against Goldey-Beacom), and on Saturday, September 30, Bridgeport pays a call for a 12:00 noon start.
