Dumain Shuts Out Dominican as Lady Spartans Earn 3-0 Victory

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team captured its first win of the season, 3-0 victory in a non-conference tilt at Dominican College. The Lady Spartans leveled their record at 1-1 on the season, while dropping Dominican to 0-3 overall.

STAC wasted little time getting on the board as Caitlin Speranza took a cross from Sarah Colotti and hit the net after just 6:46 of play. Mekenzie Moreau, last year's leading scorer, scored her first of the season on a breakaway at 23:12 to give the visitors a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. Sarah Colotti added an insurance marker at 57:09, and Lady Spartans netminder Courtney Dumain did the rest. The senior goalkeeper turned aside shots to earn her first shutout of the season, as STAC outshot the hosts by a 17-10 margin on the afternoon.

The Lady Spartans hit the road on Saturday, September 8, playing their East Coast Conference opener against Daemen College at 11:00 am. They return home for another ECC tilt when Mercy College pays a visit for an 11:00 am kickoff on Saturday, September 15.
