The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team earned a 2-0 victory in a non-conference contest at Washington Adventist University. The Lady Spartans now stand at 4-3-1 on the season, while Washington Adventist slips to 5-5. After starting the season with six of their first eight games on the road, the St. Thomas Aquinas squad will play seven of their final eight regular-season games at home in the month of October. STAC's defense continued to play strong with the team recording its third shutout of the season, having allowed just six goals while going 4-2-1 over the past seven games.

STAC carried much of the play from the outset but, despite holding a commanding 21-9 advantage in shots by halftime, the game remained scoreless on the strength of superb goalkeeping from Lady Spartans netminder Courtney Dumain and WAU's Laura Perez. The visitors applied relentless pressure after the intermission, outshooting Washington Adventist by a 21-1 margin and finally breaking through on Kelsey Ardizzone's team-leading fourth goal of the season, from an assist by Angelica Sanchez at 54:21.

Mekenzi Moreau assisted on the insurance tally by Alexandra Squillaro at 74:10 and STAC was not threatened the rest of the way, persevering despite Perez' incredible 27-save performance in net for the Shock. STAC dominated the hosts to the tune of a 39-10 advantage in shots for the evening, marking the program's highest shot total since posting 43 in a 10-0 victory over WAU on September 14, 2014.

The Lady Spartans begin defense of their home turf on Thursday, October 4, hosting Roberts Wesleyan in an East Coast Conference showdown at Spartan Field. Kickoff time is set for 1:00 pm, followed by the men's teams squaring off at approximately 3:00 pm. They play another ECC twin-bill, hosting NYIT on Sunday, October 7, starting at 12:00 noon.
