Moreau Strikes Again as OT Winner Tops Bloomfield, 1-0

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team capped off Senior Day with a 1-0 overtime victory in a non-conference clash against Bloomfield College. The Lady Spartans snapped their first two-game losing streak of the season, improving to 7-6-1 overall while Bloomfield fell to 2-13-1.

After dropping their previous two contests, STAC's offense continued its recent struggles but tight defensive play preserved a 0-0 tie through 90 scoreless minutes of regulation, with the hosts holding a narrow 12-8 edge in shots. Though scoring chances were far from plentiful, the Lady Spartans needed little time to net the Golden Goal as Mekenzi Moreau split the Bloomfield defense and sent a perfect shot past a diving Emira Sela in goal, hitting the corner of the net after just 1:52 of extra time.

Not only was that goal Moreau's fourth of the season, but it was her second OT winner, as she converted the final shot in STAC's last victory, a 2-1 thriller over Holy Family on October 10. Courtney Dumain continued her stellar senior campaign with her fifth shutout of the season, dropping her goals against average to just 1.05.

The Lady Spartans play their final two games at home, wrapping up their East Coast Conference schedule against Lincoln on Monday, October 22, before closing out against Concordia on Friday, October 26. Both start times are set for 3:00 pm.
