The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team stormed to a 6-1 triumph in an East Coast Conference contest against Lincoln (Pa) University at Spartan Field. With the victory, the Lady Spartans are now 8-6-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the ECC, clinching not only their highest win total in program history, but also the first time they will finish with a record above .500. Lincoln, a provisional member of the conference for women's soccer, remained winless at 0-14-0, 0-8-0.

Coming off Saturday's game in which STAC was scoreless through regulation before claiming a 1-0 overtime victory over Bloomfield, the Lady Spartans filled the net early and often against Lincoln. Sarah Colotti scored her fourth of the season from Mekenzi Moreau just 4:39 into play, and added another at 12:34 from Jacquelyn Kaplan to open a 2-0 lead. Only 17 seconds later, Maya LaFleur converted her first from Merari Rodriguez, and Niamh McKivett finished another feed from Kaplan at 18:14 to make the tally 4-0.

Kaplan recorded her third assist on Justine Drum's first of the year at 30:55 as STAC cruised into halftime with a commanding 5-0 advantage. Holding a comfortable lead, the Lady Spartans saw Samantha Sabini replace starting goalkeeper Courtney Dumain, whose 45 scoreless minutes in goal reduced her goals against average to 1.12, third in the ECC. Lincoln snapped the shutout at 48:38 when Kenya Davis cut the gap to 5-1.

That set the stage for a statistical anomaly, as Dumain, inserted into the game as a position player, scored her first career goal at 62:42, on an assist from Colotti. She became the second STAC goalkeeper in three days to start the game in net and score a goal - on Saturday, men's netminder Jack Nicholson pressed forward in the final seconds with the Spartans trailing UDC by a 1-0 count, and scored on a header with 30 seconds left to send the game to overtime, with STAC eventually grabbing a 2-1 win.

St. Thomas Aquinas dominated with a 27-11 advantage in shots, with Sabini making five saves in relief of Dumain, who did not face a shot on goal in the first half. Lena Rodriguez was credited with nine saves for the visitors.

The Lady Spartans close out the 2018 season with a non-conference match against Concordia College on Friday, October 26, with game time set for 3:00 pm at Spartan Field.
