Women's Soccer Suffers 3-0 Defeat at Mercy

The St. Thomas Aquinas College women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision in an East Coast Conference contest at Mercy College. The Spartans remain winless on the season at 0-10-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the ECC, with Mercy improving to 9-2-0, 3-1-0.

Though Mercy carried the play from the outset, they were unable to break through until the final minutes of the first half. A late STAC turnover helped the Mavericks get on the board as Claudia McKail scored her first of the season at 36:30. With just under three minutes left in the half, Kaitlyn Dunning converted a long cross from in close to add an insurance marker before halftime. After being outshot by a 9-0 margin through 45 minutes, STAC did generate some offense in the second half but were unable to cut into the deficit as Juliana Conforti closed out the scoring at 86:11.

The Spartans play their next two games on the road before hosting three of their last four at Spartan Field. On Saturday, October 19, STAC travels to face Lincoln before heading for Bloomfield on Wednesday, October 23. Their next home match is against Queens College on Saturday, October 26.
